James Dean

I don’t think there is a single person in this world who doesn’t know who James Dean is. He may have only stared in 3 movies, but he left his mark. James Dean didn’t just leave a mark in this world because he was a good looking guy. Infact he was told he was too short to be an actor. He left his mark because he was a truly great person, who believed that a simple message can make you stop and think about your life.

James Dean’s life wasn’t always peachy, he was born on February the 8th 1931. His life was like any normal boys until he was nine, when his mother died of cancer. After his mother died his father put him on a train with his mother’s body and was sent to live with his aunt and uncle who raised him from then on.

In 1947 when he was 18 he headed back to California to attend college. On December 13th of that year he got his first professional job. Which he got paid $30 for, it was a Pepsi commercial it involved a bunch of teenagers standing around a juke box singing and dancing. He dropped out of college to attend a drama school. His teacher there suggested that he go to New York and try Broadway, so that’s what he did. He got a few roles on Broadway. But on March 8, 1954 he headed back to Hollywood with his clothes stored in a paper bag. About a month later he signed a contract with Warner Brothers for the role of Cal Trask in "East of Eden", a movie which he was nominated for an Academy award.

In the end of 1954 Warner Brothers extended his contract, then in early 1955 they announced that James Dean would play the role of Jim Stark in rebel without a cause . Then in April he signed on to play the role of Jett Rink in "Giant". Also in 1955 he appeared in a 30 second commercial for highway safety in which he says "Take it easy driving, The life you save may be mine".

On the day he died on September 30, 1955 at 5.45 James Dean’s Porche collided with a ford sedan, James was thrown free form the car and died within seconds. Just 2 hours before his fatal accident he received a ticket for speeding. When James Dean died on that day he left behind a lot of people who love him not just fans but fellow actors and actresses.
